THIS is the Best Pizza in Los Angeles!
(Especially if you've ever lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn)
I'm a local real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty in Studio City, CA with over two decades of local industry experience. I moved here in 1999 from Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Bay Ridge to be exact. Growing up, our go-to neighborhood pizzeria was Pizza Wagon on 86th Street and 5th Avenue. You can only imagine my shock and thrill when Pizza Wagon opened up shop right here in Sherman Oaks a few years ago.
The pizza is the EXACT SAME pizza you get in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I've searched for something similar for 20 years to no avail. I mean, you can get close but you could never find the real deal. Not, at least until now.
It's a Matter of Opinion
When it comes to great pizza, it's obviously a matter of personal opinion. My opinion, of course, is that Brooklyn is the best. There's no comparison. To have it here, now, after a very long search, is UNBELIEVABLE.
I understand that, for me, the pizza that I grew up with is the holy grail. But I did grow up with Brooklyn pizza. (So, I was pretty lucky!)
Close By in Sherman Oaks, CA
I'm always in Sherman Oaks as it's one of the neighborhoods where I sell homes. Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn is located at 14522 1/2 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks and is literally right down the street from my office. Two-mile drive west down Ventura Blvd., to be exact. It's actually like a second office for me considering I do business in the neighborhood and can't really stay away! Besides, as much as I love to visit my family in Brooklyn, I can't do that as much as I can grab a slice at Pizza Wagon. It's a little taste of home and I'm very grateful for that.
Family Run and Operated
Anthony and Marina are the owners. They are super nice people. I asked Anthony the first day I walked into the shop right after they opened if he was bringing in water or shipping the dough. His response was, "nah, I'm just making it right."
He most certainly is and the pizza on a scale of 1 to 10 is a total 11!
I've literally done the coast-to-coast taste test having dinner at Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn before flying out on the red-eye and ordering a pie as soon as Pizza Wagon in Bay Ridge opened the following day. My children thought I was nuts! I had to, though. Right?
Give it a Try!
Whether you're from Brooklyn or you're simply looking for some authentic Brooklyn pizza in Los Angeles, give them a try and let me know what you think. A few years ago, I did this segment on The American Dream TV show. You can check that out below and get a look at the pizza. If you are from Bay Ridge, I'm telling you, you can almost taste it.
Enjoy!
